New version of Veronica
New version of Veronica
What d'you reckon? I like it a lot! D'you reckon he had to ask Paul McCartney's permission to change it so radically?
The middle eight is the only bit that doesn't work for me.

It's okay. I prefer the original arrangement. Some parts of this remind me of "Pony Street".

I liked it a lot. What was cool was hearing it live for the first time on Sunday night. A nice fun surprise, which is what these shows are all about.

Like it a lot as well. To me, it sounds like the tune for Brilliant Mistake.

It's still close enough to the original. Paul doesn't change his songs, but based on this, it couldn't hurt. (And I can say that, 'cos I'm a fan.)

Re: New version of Veronica
Based on my one concert experience with McCartney, I'm in favor of any approach to the material that would make it harder for the audience to sing along to. I had what seemed to be a glorious set ruined by a group of German Beatles fans yelling out the lyrics of every fucking song at the top of their lungs, totally out of tune. It seemed to me that they'd spent a lot of money traveling from another country to have what was essentially a very expensive karaoke night.

That's more or less what I thought after hearing it at the Beacon on the 24th. It certainly sounds like the arrangement for Brilliant Mistake ... or shall we say "Veronica in the style of Brilliant Mistake".FAVEHOUR wrote:Like it a lot as well. To me, it sounds like the tune for Brilliant Mistake.

This KILLS the original, which I've always felt was too cute by half. Loving this!

The song starts at 3:03 if you want to skip the spin:

Excellent sounding audio here. Sorry about the big head that blocks the camera - it was my nemesis the entire show.

Many thanks Doc!
Pretty damn brilliant as far as I am concerned.

thnks for the vid. i don't like this version much. seems to have taken something compact and exact and simply unraveled parts of it without really strong re-composing.
