Post by Farmed Horses »

Is there a complete list of cover versions by Elvis Costello, including:
• released covers (as on Kojak Variety and bonus discs of various CDs)
• unreleased covers from studio sessions
• unreleased covers played live (such as 'Knowing Me, Knowing You' at Glastonbury)

Dévics singer Sara Lov releases her second solo album I Already Love You next week. The ten-track covers album finds her tackling a wide range of songs, from The Black Heart Procession’s ‘Square Heart’ to Elvis Costello’s ‘I Want To Vanish’, via Magnetic Fields’ ‘Papa Was A Rodeo’ and Vashti Bunyan’s ‘Winter Is Blue’. One clear standout is this beautiful version of Canadian singer-songwriter Ron Sexsmith’s ‘Just My Heart Talkin’, a dream-light meditation on love with a sweetly buoyant backing.

I have a creeping feeling that my amount of songs he's covered don't even scrape the surface. ;(

This song will be on her forthcoming album "Show Me Where The Edge Is", which is reported to include a trilogy of Costello covers. She also released a 7 inch vinyl EP last year which included a cover of "This Year's Girl".
